WHEN Robert Orehek promised members of the Hillsong Church between 25 and 35 per cent interest on their loans, it seemed to be a sin to refuse.
When people are pressured from the pulpit by unscrupulous pastors, the very people who need protection are those who are deceived. Unfortunately their discernment is as a mouse sniffing at cheese in a loaded trap .
More to come on this as the court proceedings continue.

WHAT is a ‘purpose driven life’, and does it matter?
The TRUE Purpose of Our Lives can be summed up by several Scriptures, which reiterate the same message.
The conclusion, when all has been read is: ...fear God and keep His commandments, because this applies to every person. For God will bring every act to judgment, everything which is hidden, whether it is good or evil” (Ecclesiastes 12:13-14 NAU).
Brett Bigg of the CWM Fellowship in Brisbane, Australia has provided excellent study material on the Purpose Driven “other gospel” promoted by Rick Warren.

A...Suzanne Sataline, journalist for The Wall Street Journal tells it like it really is.
"...punishment followed weeks of complaints by Mr. Jones and his friends that the pastor was following the teachings of the Rev. Rick Warren..."
CWM staffer SWC has voiced the long held opinion that secular reporters note these indiscretions long before the participants.
The question I [PLP] have is
""Why does it take non-Christians to state the obvious?""
Perhaps PLP, it is because Christians are too close to the action?

Could this be something like that moment described in:-
Matthew 24:31:- "And He will send His angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they will gather together His elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.”
1 Corinthians 15:52:- “ in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.”
1 Thessalonians 4:16:- “For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first.”

Did you know that Muslim’s also look for a messiah?
Ahmadinejad (Iranian President ) is on record as stating he believes he is to have a personal role in ushering in the age of the Mahdi. In a Nov. 16, 2005, speech in Tehran, he said he sees his main mission in life as to "pave the path for the glorious reappearance of Imam Mahdi, may Allah hasten his reappearance."
Repeated again in Septeember 2006 at the UN Assembly.
In addition the Islamic mission is to have the peoples of Earth perepared for his return. This includes converting or eliminating the Saturday & Sunday people.
Make sure you are waiting & ready for the correct Messiah!

A CWM member, Sam Cope, just returned (Oct. 06) from Europe.
Here are some of his observations, sourced from the local & national papers of the country he was in at the time. These were reinforced by talking to the locals. Entering the relevant words into GOOGLE will bring up plenty of suitable articles.
In no particular order, Sam offers these notes:
a...The RCC Pope during his address at the University of Regensburg, quoted a 14th-century Byzantine emperor Manuel II Paleologus.
A transcript of the pope's remarks obtained by The Associated Press television network reads: "In the seventh (sura, or chapter of the Quran), the Emperor comes to speak about jihad, holy war...
"He [Emperor] said, I quote, 'Show me just what Mohammed brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached.'"
Immediately modern day Moslems started protesting around the world, burning efigies of the pope AND demanding an apology. Showing that they protest first without any research.
The pope then tried to explain what he meant, and that he was "sorry" that some Moslems felt hurt. After 14 days of explanations, even the secular press was suggesting, in print, that IF the pope was [RC] Catholic then he should stick with the RCC position and leave the whole matter there, instead of trying to appease the Moslems as well as his members.
b...While this was going on the President of Iran once more called for the nation of Israel to be exterminated.
c...Papers in UK, France & Germany report the rise of anti-Jewish slogans & feelings & property destruction.
d...St Denis, a suburb of Paris, has become a "no-go" area for non-Moslems.
Even the police travel in a group through this area. Many of the refugees from Africa find there way here, en route to London.
e...Each week in London; more people attend Mosques than attend Christian church meetings.
f...Only one English paper sided with Israel during their excusion into Lebanon, all others showed their bias by covering only the damage done by Israel to property & people in Lebanon. Even the BBC weighed in on the side of Lebanon.
g...The European press, in general, condemned Israel's retaliatory offensive against Hizbullah as an over-the-top response to the capture and killing of its soldiers and invasion of its territory, but remains divided over what must be done to resolve the crisis.
h...Yet days later the press corps, back home from Lebanon, were explaining how their photos & quotes were all controlled by the Hezbolla insurgents. "Either report & photgraph what we show you else you must leave the area NOW".
Sounds like the Ishmael effect - again. Genesis 16:12
i...We were reminded again of the Lutheran - Rome accord which aims to end four centuries of division between the two. Was the work of Martin Luther in vain then?
j..Spain wants to make legal the 1000's of overstayers in its borders.
The other EU states are horrified at this action, as they know, once legal, these new citizens will request that their relatives join them.
k..All this sounds as though "The Lord of the Air" is winning, yet we know that forces will continue to come against the Jewish people, Israel, Jerusalem and their sympathiziers, BUT we know the final outcome - don't we?.
Praise the Lord indeed!
l..Certainly at the moment Europe is more secular than Christian. This ratio will be even more emphasied when Turkey and other countries are admitted to the European Communtity. At that time we may notice that Europe is in the main, secular but that Moslems outnumber Christians.
