Your Letters...
From A Heartfelt Letter to All Credential Holders (pp 2-3) by Saied Adour Former Superintendent, State of New York, Assemblies of God ON December 13th 2004, the General Superintendent [Thomas Trask (TT)] called and offered me the opportunity to voluntarily resign so I would not have to face the meeting on December 15th.
My wife Esther was present with me when the call came. I told him I would have to be given time to consider the offer. Before hanging up he (TT) kindly said to me that if I did not resign the severance package that would be offered to me by the New York brethren would likely not be as generous as if I did resign. Much to my shock, he also kindly said that if I did not resign it was possible that I could lose my A/G credentials.
He did not tell me what the possible charges would be but he did say that the charges had already been drawn up, presumably by the New York brethren. Since he declared my integrity in his January 4th (2005) letter to our constituency, I am puzzled to know what those charges could possibly be. I envisioned a scenario where I would be forbidden to fellowship with those that I loved and to whom I had ministered faithfully as Superintendent for over eight years. That unimaginable thought brought me to a point where I offered my “voluntary” resignation. A dear precious brother and acknowledged leader among us, has suggested to me that I should not have even then resigned.
No, my brothers and sisters, it cannot be said that my resignation was truly voluntary or if I had not resigned, I would still be the district superintendent. I’m not sure how it would have been handled, but be assured that if I had not agreed to resign, I would have been forced to do so. I called the General Superintendent on Tuesday morning January 14,, 2005. I told him that I could not, in good conscience, resign before the Presbytery meeting the next day because I wanted to “face the music”. Keep in mind that I thought the meeting on the next day would be open and fair.
You, of course, know that it was not, at least not my brief part in it. I also told him that I was offended by the suggestion that I would receive a better severance if I resigned. I said that in my over eight years as superintendent, I have never been infl uenced by money and I did not intend to begin doing so now.

BLACKWHITE. Applied to an opponent, it means the habit of impudently claiming that black is white, in contradiction of the plain facts. Applied to a Party member, it means a loyal willingness to say that black is white when Party discipline demands this. But it means also the ability to believe that black is white, and more, to know that black is white, and to forget that one has ever believed the contrary. *2
Blackwhite. That is the Newspeak of the Assemblies of God. Law, even God’s Law, is what the Ministry of Truth in Springfi eld, Missouri says it is. All actions, decisions, and deeds, are what Big Brother — Thomas Trask and the Executive Presbytery — claim they are, even when it is a contradiction of the plain facts. And Party members — the A/G credential holders — are willing to say that black is white when Party discipline demands this, believe that black is white, and more, to know that black is white, and forget they ever believed the contrary. This is especially true on the subject of the A/G constitution, but includes other issues such as altering the Assemblies’ theological positions from orthodoxy and doctrinal fi delity to Bellyfeel *3.
For instance, the Assemblies of God has a paper stating their rejection of “Positive Confession”(a) the heretical dogma promoted by covetous, moneyoriented preachers whose teachings are colloquially known as the “Name-it; Claim-it,” and “Blab-it; Grab-it” heterodoxy. Yet, once Big Brother Trask said that Party members should attend and support the Azusa Street Centennial last April (2006), Party members obeyed, no questions asked. None are allowed. Big Brother is watching out for them. Big Brother knows best. Also, Big Brother is not only watching, but he is making sure that everyone complies.
Everyone. “This is a landmark event,” Big Brother Trask stated. “The Azusa Street Centennial is an event that will be rich with heritage, but also focused on empowering the future. This event will not only impact those attending and the city of Los Angeles, but I believe has the potential to literally change the world.”
Thus, Big Brother spoke, knowing that most of the more celebrated, famous, and familiar speakers at the Azusa Centennial are all the teachers of the Positive Confession camp — Kenneth Copeland, Fred Price, Benny Hinn, Jerry Savelle, Paula White, and many others. It is the most pure form of Blackwhite, since Party members can no longer remember they once believed the contrary.
Yet the wiles of Big Brother are not restricted merely to Blackwhite. They also employ Doublethink, the reality control method used on Party members causing unsuspecting ministers to hold two contradictory beliefs while simultaneously accepting both of them as true. *4
What’s more, the most glaring display of both Doublethink and Blackwhite is not evinced solely by the cognitive dissonance of supporting teachers that Big Brother opposes on paper but supports in practice, but rather by Big Brother’s complete disregard for the laws of God as well as their own.
Tragically, this is combined with the Party’s willingness to accept such contempt for God’s commandments and the laws of man without any perceptible resistance to Big Brother at all. Take for instance the coerced resignation of the godly New York District Superintendent Saied Adour.
On December 15th 2004, he was deviously offered a bribe by Big Brother Trask that was cunningly posited against the disgraceful threat of being disfellowshipped if he didn’t comply. Not having violated any of God’s Laws or man’s — including A/G polities and practices — Adour was told that he must “voluntarily resign,” because the New York Presbytery did not care for his “style of leadership”.(b) If he would submit, he was promised a more lucrative severance than if he didn’t. If he wouldn’t conform however, he was threatened with expulsion from the Party — cut off from longtime brothers and sisters, friends, and even family members.
There was no choice. So, Big Brother successfully forced him to abandon his legal rights, then disgraced and debarred him from offi ce without any charges of immorality, illegality, or misconduct. Simply put, Adour was not useful to Big Brother any more and became a victim of Oldspeak *5 when Big Brother issued gratuitous explanations for the hysterical, mob thronged lynching of Adour in subsequent correspondence to New York Party members.
Then, adding insult to illegalities, when the story of the New York Superintendent’s acquiescence to Big Brother’s harassment was published by Agape Press, Big Brother Trask personifi ed the Party spirit by berating reporter Jim Brown for his Duckspeak *6 after he had investigated and reported the story(c). There is also the case of Randy Gross.
Randy and the Gospel Lighthouse Church had their church building invaded not once, but twice by the New York District Presbytery turning it into a Party Joycamp7. On the second occasion, Big Brother interrupted and disturbed the Sunday worship so egregiously and blasphemously, that those present in the 200 plus assembly had to dial 911 for help.
Church members were so fearful of the imminent brawl about to take place at the pulpit as one long-time congregant, and a senior citizen to boot, wrestled with a Presbyter who held a Papal Bull from Big Brother stating that they were there to take back “their” church(d). A total and absolute violation of every Assemblies of God church’s guarantee to complete sovereignty originally designed by the godly founders of the A/G specifi cally to protect them from Big Brother(e).
Of course, there is also the A/G missionary to India who was unlawfully vaporized *8 after he appealed to Big Brother Trask for a hearing about fi scal fraud in the Assemblies of God World Missions Department.
And Harold Saiti of Syracuse NY, who was cornered in his offi ce before a Wednesday night Bible study and told by the Presbyter from the Ministry of Love *9 that he was not going to be allowed to preach or teach from the pulpit of that church any more.
Big Brother had decreed it and it would be so; a patently unashamed contravention of the law contained in the A/G constitution. Now, time would fail me if I told you of the pastor from Indiana who is afraid the Thought Police10 will fi nd out that he wishes to leave the Party; or the consulting fi rm that called me in April from one of the Assemblies of God largest US Districts asking for advice as they seek to change their District constitution to escape from the long arm of Big Brother in Springfi eld; or the second generation Assemblies couple from Minnesota who left the Party after their eyes were opened by the Holy Spirit;(f) ; or similar reports from Kentucky, Georgia, Ohio, Missouri, Michigan, Tennessee, and Australia on Big Brother’s illegalities and illicit activities.
This includes the Florida pastor who told me that my documentation was “a blueprint” for what had happened to them in their District a few years ago when Big Brother Trask cast out their Superintendent just as they did to Saied Adour — without warrant, without grounds, and without legitimacy. Then of course there is myself. And…who am I you ask?

I am an Unperson *11, falsely charged and found guilty by Big Brother in New York and Springfi eld of Thoughtcrimes.
*12 In other words, I thought for myself, applied the rules of law and logic to the Bible and the A/G constitution, and challenged Big Brother.
As a result, like Adour and all the others mentioned in this article, I committed no overt acts of immorality, illegality, or breaches of A/G polity or practices, yet I was thrust from the Party.
I was guilty of one thing and one thing only.
I told Big Brother that he had violated the laws of God and man, and that God would judge all who are involved in the blatant unlawfulness of such a dictatorial hegemony and the brazen lordship over God’s people that God emphatically states that He detests.
My problem though, was I set down my objections and put pen to paper.
For that, I was convicted of Crimethink, and my 23 years of faithful and steadfast ministry in the A/G were shoved down the memory hole *13.
Like Emmanuel Goldstein, I resisted the Party *14.
And unless you want to end up like me — an acclaimed outcast and a supposed adversary of the Party — do not read my documentation *15 and do not think for yourself.
Thinking for yourself can be dangerous, and Big Brother will defi nitely not tolerate it without cruel retribution and retaliation. Be assured from those of us who know fi rsthand — Big Brother is watching!
Further, be certain of this — the Assemblies of God has transformed, will continue to transform, and has plans for more transformation in the future. But don’t be fooled, for it is not the transformation the A/G wants you to believe it is. Nor is it the transformation that they publicize. Tragically, it is the transformation described by sociologist Alan Wolfe of Boston College who wrote about the rise of America’s new national religion (quoted below). No, don’t be fooled by reality as it is described by Big Brother Trask or any of his obsequious assistants, for it is not reality at all. Reality to Big Brother in Springfi eld and in other A/G Districts is nothing more than Blackwhite — applied to an opponent it means the habit of impudently claiming that black is white, in contradiction of the plain facts. Applied to a Party member, it means a loyal willingness to say that black is white when Party discipline demands this. But it means also the ability to believe that black is white, and more, to know that black is white, and to forget that one has ever believed the contrary.16 Plain and simple... truth is what Big Brother says it is.
It is no longer an objective, biblical worldview resting in the unyielding, adamantine bedrock of Holy Scripture and facts as they are.
But rather, reality staggers unsteadily and falls headlong into the street, wobbling tentatively in unwilling submission to Big Brother and how he defines reality for the Party.
All who agree are sane; all who disagree must fi nd sanity in a kowtowing, illusory conformity to arrant and complete falsehoods17. How amazing that all of this was accomplished — in less than 100 years; quite a feat.
Recently pastor Ray Barnett contacted hundreds of Assemblies of God pastors via email to share his personal experience of abusive power in the New York District of the Assemblies of God.

God is not dead in America, but the way he lives and breathes has nothing in common with the old-time religion dramatized in Inherit the Wind.
In this groundbreaking work, leading American social scientist Alan Wolfe demonstrates that American religion has been transformed beyond recognition.
God has met and struggled fi ercely against American culture — and the culture has won. On the face of it, religion in America seems to be booming.
Church attendance remains high and God talk is omnipresent.
Yet after travelling across the country, visiting with clergy, joining in worship services, and digesting reports from every corner of the land, Wolfe discovered that the reality of religion as we actually practise it is utterly different from what it was previously. G
one is the language of sin and damnation.
Forgotten are all the doctrinal differences that were once of burning importance. Worship and prayer serve the needs of the inner self. Witnessing is another lifestyle option.
In short, American religion has been tamed, and God has become a friend rather than an authority fi gure.
Even conservative religion has become part of the culture of narcissism.
Evangelicals are more interested in planting and growing churches than they are in saving souls.
People change denominations as frequently as they change jobs.
Americans continue to take their religion seriously, but as a group we have thoroughly domesticated what was once a matter of spiritual life and death.
We are witnessing the end of religion as our grandparents understood it — and the start of a new religion we are just beginning to know.
The Transformation of American Religion offers nothing less than a roadmap to our new national faith .”
And judgment is turned away backward, and justice standeth afar off: for truth is fallen in the street, and equity cannot enter. Yea, truth faileth; and he that departeth from evil maketh himself a prey: and the LORD saw it, and it displeased him that there was no judgment
—Isaiah 59:14-15 KJV
Woe unto the wicked! It shall be ill with him: for the reward of his hands shall be given him. … O my people, they which lead thee cause thee to err, and destroy the way of thy paths. The LORD standeth up to plead, and standeth to judge the people.
—Isaiah 3:11-13 KJV
(a) This view advocates that God wants believers to wear the best clothing, drive the best cars, and have the best of everything.
Believers need not suffer fi nancial setbacks.
All they need to do is to tell Satan to take his hands off their money.
The believer can have whatever he says whether the need is spiritual, physical, or fi nancial. It is taught that faith compels God’s action.

(c) Written by Jim Brown, reporter for American Family Radio News:
A very angry Thomas Trask called me yesterday, claiming I was “doing a major disservice to the Kingdom” by interviewing Pastor Ray Barnett regarding the Adour debacle in the NY presbytery. He accused me of never contacting the AOG national headquarters before publishing so-called “lies” from Adour and Barnett.
I let him know that I called his offi ce twice requesting an interview on the matter, but I never heard back from them.
Trask said since the denomination is so large they receive thousands of media inquiries like that every year and his secretary probably forgot to pass the messages on to him.
I told him that while he was on the line, we could do an interview and he could have his chance to explain why Adour and Barnett were dismissed.
He said he would never do an interview with us because he’s not willing to address “false and slanderous allegations.”
He yelled several times that I was “doing a major disservice to the Kingdom,” and said my journalism was “trash” and just “a bunch of garbage.”
He also asserted that the only reason I wrote the story was to attack the AOG denomination.
He then told me he was going to tell his denomination about my shoddy work and then he abruptly hung up.
All during his angry diatribe I was thinking — this man heads the Assemblies of God denomination.
I pity the men and women across the country under this man’s leadership.

(f) Dear Pastor Barnett,
My husband and I recently left the Assemblies of God in the Minnesota District after being in the denomination all of our lives. [Name Withheld]’s father was an A/G pastor for 40 years.
God opened our eyes to Discernment through being in an A/G church plant- Willowcreek style. We had no clue what we were going to help plant and after two years of not hearing the Word of God preached we began to question many of the district offi cials about the direction of this church.
What we didn’t know at the time was how pervasive the problem was and that it was coming down from the top, not just our district offi cials but from the national level.
God really began to show me and my husband how immense this deception really is.
I have grieved over the A/G, we have no friends that call us, and we are alienated from our own A/G family, but we were just people sitting in the pews not pastors.
Today as I read the information I just wept for your family, your church and for you Pastor Barnett.
I understand the feelings of depression, because I have experienced that same thing.
Such a grief that is overwhelming. I cannot begin to compare what I have gone through with what you and your family have experienced.
I do want you to know that there is a remnant that have not bowed their knees to Baal.

The risen Christ healed me!
Personal Testimony of RAY BARNETT
IN 1971, I found myself in an acute psychotic state after losing a disastrous battle with a hallucinogenic drug.
Because of it I heard audible voices speaking to me, developed delusional thinking, acquired paranoid abnormities, and suffered with severe symptoms of derealisation and depersonalisation among many other distressing symptoms.
Admitted to psychiatric units eight different times from 1971–1974, I swallowed large quantities of psychotropic drugs, which included haldol, dalmane, navane, mellaril, dilatin, tranxene, valium, and cogentin, among many others.
I also received 16 or more electroshock treatments.
Eventually identifi ed with the diagnosis of “chronic, undifferentiated, schizophrenia” I was considered incurably mentally ill.
I had become a victim of the “cancer of mental illnesses.” In 1974 I was fi nally told that all they could do was to institutionalise me “indefi nitely”.
In the spring of 1974 however, I cried out to God, saying, “If You are real, You can heal me”.
Soon after, I had a vision of Jesus standing over my bed laying His hands on me.
Then, a few days after that, while reading a Bible that belonged to a friend, I saw a picture representing Jesus.
The caption read, “Jesus Healing the Sick”.
From that time on every symptom of schizophrenia left and never returned.

Re-admitted in 1991 to a psychiatric facility in Akron, Ohio because of instances of acute anxiety due to mental overexertion, I was rediagnosed as having “latent schizophrenia”.
My diagnosis was based primarily on my past medical history; even though there were no signs of the psychotic episodes I had years earlier.
After much prayer to God, my prognosis was remarkably changed to read – “anxiety disorder.”
“Patient is quite stable…. He has been getting steady improvement.
No acute problems at the present time.
His update diagnosis is anxiety disorder.
The possibility of any psychotic breaks in the future is remote. [6/10/94].”
The psychiatrist told me that he believed he might have misdiagnosed me in 1991.
Further, he believed that I was misdiagnosed during the years 1971–1974; since after three years of his examination and scrutiny of me, there were no signs of schizophrenia.
Yet, that I once had the terminal mental affl iction of schizophrenia is undeniable, as both experience and my medical records show.
All praise to God, the risen Christ has healed me!
I am married with five children and one grandson.
I have been a pastor for almost 25 years, 19 of which have been in Amsterdam, New York.
I also have a daily radio broadcast called “The Time for Truth” that airs in the capital region of upstate New York on six different radio stations.
Editorial Note: I was deeply moved as I read his story and in view of his courage in standing for truth I have spoken to Ray about possibly visiting us in Australia and New Zealand.
He thinks he should come in the timing of the Lord and is free to plan a ministry tour after September 2006. Those who may be interested in inviting Ray as a speaker please contact CWM
